O.K., I'll bite. Spotify is a distant also ran in the USA. It does not even rank #2 in Europe as a whole, trailing Amazon mp3.
But I have been trying in vain to get my own aggregator's perspective on this since last August. So since you opened the door :
1. Did your iTunes sales take a perceptible dip in August 2011? Mine did. 30% off and did not recover until December 25, 2011.
2. Well, are they #2 in digital revenue and if tied for #2 how far off the iTunes' lead are they?
We estimated that for every dollar in Spotify income gained, we lost 9 dollars in iTunes revenue.
More significantly, I believe Spotify's introduction has increased the pressure on iTunes pricing. $5.99 is now too high for deep catalog.
3. We have finally found the key to increased iTunes sales in Europe : lowering the price point for albums to 1.99 euros (1.79 UKL). Can Tunecore designate this bottom of the barrel pricing tier for its releases?
